The Story of Us, Jill McLeod & Dot Ferneyhough

We are two girls from Truckee, California. Jill was from England and has lived in the Lake Tahoe area for over 30 years. I am from Malaysia and has lived in Truckee for about 12 years. Between us, we have about 100 years knitting experience and no, we are not that ancient; we just started young!
Jill has magic fingers and is the fastest knitter I have ever known! The majority of these patterns are designed and knitted by Jill. I just helped put the patterns out and manage this web site.
My mother taught me how to knit when I was about 6 years old. She, in turn, learned from an English lady in the late 1940's and early 1950's. In those days, Malaysia was an English colony and while the husbands were busy running the government, their wives started The Women's Institute and taught the locals how to knit, bake and cook. My mother used to knit socks for soldiers fighting in the wars at that time.
When I first learnt how to knit, I would use the thick part of the spine from a coconut frond, because my mother's knitting needles had disappeared by the time I was interested in the craft. The stick would break and I would have to restart and my tension was never uniform but I persevered.
Now, many moons later, Jill and I decided to come up with knitting patterns that are simple to follow line by line.
I hope you will try some of the patterns that you see on these pages.
